The Beginning

The website idea came alive after looking for information about venezuelan numismatics on Internet without good success. The available information on Internet were scarse, outdated and unorganized, in any language.

The development of the website began about mid 2002, after doing some research from some books to define an structure for the information. The website came alive late 2002 only in Spanish, with basic information about banknotes issued by Banco Central de Venezuela (the current issuer) and nationwide coins that circulated in Venezuela since 1830.

The second design

After more than a year of the website launch, on January 7th 2004 a new design came alive, as a result of several months of development.

The website had an extreme makeover, with a new structure and organization, to make the navigation friendlier for visitors. As the time goes by, more information were added, such as private banknotes, colonial coins and restricted coins.

On September 21st 2004, the english version of the website came alive, to provides information for non-spanish speakers visitors.

The third design

This website version came alive on November 24th 2007, about five years after the first design. It maintains the same organization of the previous design, however it was build entirely from scratch.

This design adds many enhancements such as:

• More navigational options
• Advanced search
• Detailed piece information in another page
• New piece code capabilities
• Printer friendly without additional steps
• Visually interoperable among many Internet Browsers
• Information about other Piece Identification Code

Numeric Expresion Conventions

Number expressions, related to decimals and thousand separation varies depending the languaje version of the website, following the most used conventions:

Spanish version

• Decimals separation are expressed using comma (",")
• Thousands separations are expressed using dot (".")

English Version

• Decimals separation are expressed using dot (".")
• Thousands separations are expressed using comma (",")

Observation: These conventions may not be followed from generated information by Mercadolibre and Amazon.com.
