Historical overview

Banco de Venezuela was founded in 1890, as a result of a reform of Banco Comercial and the absorption of Banco de Carabobo. This bank was one the largest that issued a lot of banknotes with national acceptance and a great variety of designs, until 1940 where, the Central Bank of Venezuela take the full resposibility to issue banknotes nationwide.
