High serial

(Spanish: Serial alto)

A banknote that has a serial number near to the end of the serie (view Low serial for the reverse case). It's necessary to know the serial interval (or its estimated), because the serie can start in any number, nonetheless generally ends at 90000000. This piece is not common to be looked for as contrary to the low serial.

Currently there are no conditions defined yet to check whether a serie is high or not, however it could be based in the same to the low serial:

Serial number in the last 2000 pieces

From the end of the serie, a piece is high serial when the serial number is the last 2000 (some states 1000) pieces.

This example is a piece identified as bbcv20000bs-bb01-d8. It has the interval D56700001-D90000000 (estimated), then the "high serial" banknote would be a piece with the serial number in the interval D89998001-D90000000.

Serial number in the interval based in the amount of issues

The piece is considered high serial when is in the "high interval" created from the number of digits of the amount of issues. This is more complex to determine, however, it's more fair because it's based on the amount of issues instead of the number of serie digits.

To determine the interval, the number of digits of the issues is divided by 2, the results would the the number of digits to be considered high. When the number of digits is odd, the integer part is used.

In this example, a piece identified as bbcv20000bs-ba01-a8 the serie has the interval A00000001-A90000000 (estimated) with 90,000,000 (estimated) pieces. A "high serial" would be a serial number in the interval A89990000-A90000000 because the amount of issues has 8 digits, so the "high serial" has 4 digits.
