General: Multicolor design with blue as predominant color.
Obverse: Design with portrait orientation. On the top, "REPÚBLICA BOLIVARIANA DE VENEZUELA" (Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela) with below left in several lines: the denomination value "2", the denomination in words "DOS BOLÍVARES", the date, the payment clause "PAGADEROS AL PORTADOR EN LAS OFICINAS DEL BANCO" and the two signatures, and below center watermarks zone. On the bottom, portrait of "Francisco de Miranda" from a copy done by Charles Ventrillon-Horber based on Georges Rouget artwork., with below, the denomination. As background, the map of Venezuela with a sailing ship. The serial numbers are located in the top right and bottom left rotated 90 degrees clock-wise.
Reverse: Design with landscape orientation. In the center, over the field Amazon River Dolphin (Inia geoffrensis) and worm flower, over the Coro dunes as background. On the right, watermarks zone. On the top left, the issuer name "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA". On the left, Coat of Arms. On the bottom right, the denomination value "2" and the denomination in words "DOS BOLÍVARES".
Design variations: The signers are the President (in charge) and the Director instead of the President and the First Vicepresident. This is due to the decease of the President in December 14th 2008.
